Ministry of law forwards nine model laws to provinces

Kathmandu, April 29
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has forwarded nine pieces of model legislation to the provinces so that the assemblies can take them as a reference to conduct the affairs of the provincial legislature.
The model laws that have been forwarded are related to remuneration and perks of chief ministers and ministers, remuneration and perks of office-bearers of province assemblies and members, administration of the provincial assembly secretariat, rights and duties of chief attorneys and management of public procurement.
Hom Bahadur KC, Under-secretary at the ministry, said more model laws would be sent to the provinces within a month. KC said that a total of 22 laws are required to smoothly run the provincial assemblies.
The provinces have the option of either passing the pieces of legislation with or without any revision.
